Postscript: After the volunteer running WKRP retired, there was not the capacity to continue running the program.

The WKRP Radio Show is Australia’s first weekly radio show broadcast from inside prison. The program is presented by Indigenous prisoners from within the walls of West Kimberley Regional Prison in Western Australia.

The show’s content includes mostly Indigenous music, with light hearted humour, forward and back announcing by the presenters.

WKRP Radio is broadcast every Wednesday 5pm – 6pm on 97.9FM, via 6DBY 97.9FM Derby, and the National Indigenous Radio Service, and repeated Fridays 12pm – 1pm. Alternatively it can be accessed via the 6DBY Larrkardi Radio website.
